From hospital wards to preventive healthcare.

Dato’ Dr. Tommy Tan graduated with his MD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and began his career in government service, including a posting as medical officer in the Dermatology Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur . Postgraduate training followed — a Diploma in Practical Dermatology (UK) and a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine — alongside certification as an Occupational Health Doctor .

He went on to build healthcare organisations rather than just practise in them: founding ASP Medical Group , growing it to ISO 9001 certification, and later founding RenewLife Healthcare in Petaling Jaya. In 2011 he was conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P.) , which carries the title Dato’.

At HDC Medical, the principle he founded the clinic on is simple: screening should be honest, actionable and explained — never a PDF left for you to decode alone.

His philosophy

Early prevention is better than cure. That conviction, formed over more than twenty years in clinical practice, is why Dato’ Dr. Tommy Tan founded HDC Medical — and why the clinic is built around screening rather than treatment.

By the time most conditions announce themselves, the easiest window to act has already closed. Medical screening and blood testing exist to find that window while it is still open. What happens next, in his view, is mostly food. The right nutrition and diet shift more of what a screening uncovers than most people expect.
