Dato’ Dr. Tommy Tan graduated with his MD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and began his career in government service, including a posting as medical officer in the Dermatology Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur . Postgraduate training followed: a Diploma in Practical Dermatology (UK) and a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, alongside certification as an Occupational Health Doctor .

He went on to build a healthcare organisation rather than just practise in one, founding ASP Medical Group and growing it to ISO 9001 certification.

In 2011 he was conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P.) , which carries the title Dato’.

He founded HDC Medical on a simple principle: screening should be honest, actionable and explained , never a PDF left for you to decode alone.

His philosophy

Catch it early. Better still, never let it start.

Early prevention is better than cure. That conviction, formed over more than twenty years in clinical practice, is why Dato’ Dr. Tommy Tan founded HDC Medical, and why the clinic is built around screening rather than treatment.

Many conditions develop quietly. Health screening and blood testing help you find changes while they are easier to act on. Blood tests can pick up early signs such as cholesterol drifting, fasting glucose creeping upward, or inflammatory and hormonal markers shifting, often before there is anything to feel.

He is equally firm that screening does not end at a number. A result nobody explains to you changes nothing. At HDC Medical every panel is reviewed and explained one-to-one by our dietitian team , and you leave understanding which markers matter, why they moved, and what happens next.

What happens next, in his view, is mostly food. The right nutrition and diet can shift more of what a screening uncovers than most people expect.
